Lets start this again

Just after starting this blog I discovered I was pregnant. I was really poorly and didn’t really have a life for 9 months so decided not to write. My little boy is 5 months old now and I am loving life so thought I would get back into writing stuff down (can you call it that on an iPad)?

I haven’t got on the scales for a while but have just started to get back into exercise. I learned a lot from my short spell doing weight watchers and I know I need to cut down on the cakes (homemade of course) but breastfeeding actually makes you really hungry so for the next few months I’m going to allow myself those luxuries and just try to get my fitness back and some resemblance of abs.

I’ve done quite a bit of baking and crafting over the last few months but didn’t take many photos so I shall begin all that again.

Today I made a batch of glutenfree chocolate cupcakes then went to urban rebounding. A good start to the exercise and a yummy treat on my return.

I’m off to attempt to get the little one to sleep now.

Week 1

Well, my first week of weight watchers is coming to an end and I have to say I have found it much easier than I thought and have enjoyed some yummy treats. This evening has totally blown my weekly points as I had the girls round for pizza and drinks (non alcoholic but actually quite alot of points). One of my friends is on week 4 of slimming world. I don’t know how that works but she keeps forgetting she is dieting and supplied me with millionaire shortbread and minstrels this evening. And yes….I am weak and loved every single bite.

I made my first gluten free pizza base tonight and everyone loved it. I will remember not to have pepperoni next time though as that was a point killer. I think making pizza bases is great though as you can have then super thin and crispy. Yum.

Sleepy now after all those treats. Tomorrow will be a much healthier day but tonight has been fun. Bring on next Friday!

Bring on the blog!

Yesterday I began my weight watchers mission and set myself up a blog to keep track of my ups and downs. It got me thinking that I should really keep track of all my craft and baking shenanigans too so here I am.

Hello Tumblr.

So who am I? Well I’m a nearly 30 year old girl from West Sussex who hula hoops, loves crafty projects and baking yummy gluten free cakes.

I have Coeliac disease so I have to have a gluten free diet. I was diagnosed 8 years ago and although most days I’m fine I still get the odd day when I’m angry and just wish I could walk into a shop and buy a sandwich and cake. Having said that, Brighton is only 20 minutes away by train and is full of lovely places to binge on gluten free goodies and thanks to the rise in knowledge about Coeliac disease you can pick up gluten free sandwiches in places like M&S and Starbucks now. Something I never thought would happen and I am really very grateful for. Places like that may not realise it but they make me feel ‘normal’ when I’m out shopping with my mates and I not longer have to resort to salad on a snowy december day.

I like to think I have lots of hobbies. I’m not great at any of them but they all make me happy and give me a break from real life. Baking (mostly GF cupcakes) is my husbands favourite hobby of mine as he gets to eat the results. Last christmas he bought me a cake decorating book and I am now attempting to make my cupcakes look pretty. I think it may take me years to perfect but it’s great fun trying. Sadly for me I think weight watchers may have something to say about my cupcakes obsession. I don’t think the point system was designed for me to eat 6 cupcakes and alot of carrots….moderation I hear you say…..well I haven’t quite got the down yet but I’ll let you know how I get on.

Crafting is my snuggle up on the sofa hobby. I love to knit and makes things out of fabric and felt and a few weeks ago I taught myself to crochet and am beginning the new amigurumi adventure. I’m starting off simple with christmas puddings to decorate the tree with. So far it is going well and I will eventually get myself organised and take some photos. I also attempt the odd bit of sewing and clothes making. Dresses and skirts are my favourite but they never seem to turn out like they do in my head. Sadly I am one of those ‘cant’t do it first time then give up’ people. Something I really want to change so that I can enjoy some finished pieces that I am happy with.

Finally there is hula hoop. This is something I am quite new to but absolutley love. I used to do static trapeze and aerial silks but due to more injuries than my body could recover from i had to stop. My love of the circus didn’t die though and I now have 2 hoops, a set of poi and a diablo. My weekly hulla hoop classes provide exercise, fun and enormous amounts of laughter and I understand my body in a way I have never done before. I love it….everyone shoukd learn to hoop! Fact!

So that’s me in a very long winded nutshell. I hope to keep this updated with my crafty projects and the trials and tribulations of attempting weight watchers with a cupcake addiction.

I’m off to spend the afternoon crafting vintage bits and bobs for a wedding I’m going to be a bridesmaid at. Looking forward to it.
